Receipt printers, scanners, drawers and scales

What works with the till: 80mm receipt printers, barcode scanners, the camera of a phone or laptop, cash drawers and scale labels.

Receipt printer

Receipts are laid out for 80mm thermal paper (58mm can be chosen too). Under Setup → Point of Sale → Receipt and printer you choose the paper width, the words at the foot of the receipt, and whether a receipt prints as soon as a sale is finished.

  • A printable page in the browser works with any printer the computer can print to. Set the receipt printer as the default printer and turn off the page margins once.
  • Straight to the printer (ESC/POS) sends the receipt to the printer itself, cuts the paper and opens the drawer. It needs a small print program on the till computer, so ask us to set it up.

Barcode scanner

Any USB or Bluetooth scanner that types like a keyboard works with no setup. Scan into the till and the product goes on the sale. If two products share a barcode, the till asks which one and tells you to give each its own.

No scanner? Use the camera

Every search and barcode box in the POS has a camera button next to it: the till, stock counts, transfers, purchases, the lists and a product's barcode field. Press it, allow the camera the first time, and hold the barcode inside the frame. The product goes on the sale, the line is added, or the box is filled, just as with a scanner.

  • Tick Keep scanning to scan one item after another without closing the camera. It beeps on each one.
  • It reads shop barcodes (EAN and UPC), Code 128 and Code 39 labels, and QR codes.
  • It works in Chrome, Edge and Safari on phones, tablets and laptops, over your workspace's normal https address.

If the camera button says the camera is blocked, allow the camera for your workspace in the browser's site settings and press it again.

Cash drawer

A drawer plugged into the receipt printer opens on a cash sale when Open the drawer on a cash sale is ticked and receipts go straight to the printer.

Scales

For goods sold by weight, a scale that prints barcode labels can be read by the till. Type the pattern under Scale barcode pattern, for example 21CCCCCWWWWWX, where C is the product code, W the weight in grams and X the check digit.
